Reach of the internet in Indonesia has surpassed traditional media and came second after the television. Net Index is based on three studies that were announced Yahoo! Inc..

The study's results show, social networking was ranked first as the most popular online activity (89%), followed by the category of visitors to internet pages (72%) and news readers (61%).

The cause of this trend change in Indonesia are groups of people aged 15-30 years who used the Internet for entertainment purposes such as activities related to games and downloading music. Interestingly, the frequency range of online media was higher in middle-aged Indonesian people aged younger than the age.

In this study, the Net Index 2011 combine proven methodologies and techniques in the selection of samples to ensure full representation in the target population. Respondents were selected using multi-stage probability sampling technique.
